Three people linked by authorities to Hezbollah detained in Syria — Asharq Al-Awsat
Syrian authorities said they had detained three people in the south of the country whom they link to the Lebanese group Hezbollah. According to security forces, the group was preparing attacks on unspecified targets. It was detained in an area near the Israeli-occupied and annexed Golan Heights, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
Operation in Daraa province
Syrian state television, citing a statement by internal security forces, reported that intelligence and security personnel had foiled a plan in the Yarmouk Basin in Daraa province. According to the authorities, the detained group consisted of three people.
The security forces' statement said the operation was preceded by careful surveillance of the group's attempt to prepare rocket launchers. Syrian authorities believe this was intended to carry out attacks and destabilize the security situation. The targets of the alleged attacks were not named, and the investigation is ongoing.

Border area
The Yarmouk Basin borders the Golan Heights, which Israel captured in 1967 and subsequently annexed, as well as Jordan. Syrian state media had previously reported Israeli incursions and shelling in the area.
Syrian authorities had previously announced the exposure of several Hezbollah-linked groups which, they claimed, were preparing attacks in Syria. The group denied these accusations. Damascus also reported the seizure of weapons which, according to the authorities, were destined for Hezbollah.
The current authorities in Damascus, who ousted Bashar al-Assad in 2024, are hostile toward Hezbollah. The group fought on Assad's side during Syria's civil war.
