In Stockholm, an armed man exchanged gunfire with the police

Swedish police opened fire on a man during an operation near the Royal Palace in Stockholm. As a result of the shooting, the man was wounded and hospitalized.

According to police, officers were called to the scene because of an aggressive man who was armed with a weapon, the type of which has not yet been determined. Police opened fire immediately upon arriving at the scene.

The man was wounded and taken to the hospital. Police reported that his condition is considered serious, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

Law enforcement officials also noted that there was no danger to the public.

The tabloid Expressen reported that the man, armed with a knife, approached the Royal Palace guards and asked them to shoot him.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening on the grounds of Lejonbacken—an open area directly north of the palace.

The Stockholm Palace is the residence of Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Swedish capital.

As a reminder, on the morning of September 24, a 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen attacked four men and one woman with a knife on the grounds of the Yaroslav Abbey on Benedyktyńska Street in the Polish city of Yaroslav.

A priest was killed in the attack.

This was reported by Aftonbladet.

Earlier in Mykolaiv, a conflict between trolleybus passengers escalated into a shooting. A pretrial investigation is currently underway.

Police in the city of Belville, in the Canadian province of Ontario, have classified the shooting near the Sons of Jacob synagogue as a deliberate anti-Semitic hate crime. The attack occurred on Sunday evening as community members were preparing to begin Yom Kippur services.
