Thailand investigates British influencer’s death after filler injection — Euronews
Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health has launched an inspection of a clinic in Bangkok following the death of 43-year-old British businessman and influencer Igbo Ubiribo, who underwent a penis enlargement procedure. Euronews reports.
Coroner’s conclusion
A London coroner found last month that Ubiribo’s death on March 6 in the Thai capital was caused by a hyaluronic acid injection administered several hours earlier. According to the coroner’s report, after the filler was injected, the man massaged the area, complained of chest pain and lost consciousness.
Ubiribo was taken to hospital by ambulance with suspected pulmonary embolism, but he lost consciousness before a CT scan could be performed. Medics attempted to resuscitate him for more than 100 minutes; he was pronounced dead at around 1 a.m. A post-mortem examination and toxicology analysis determined that the hyaluronic acid injection was the cause of death.

Clinic inspection
Ministry officials visited the clinic in central Bangkok where Ubiribo underwent the procedure. They are checking whether the facility has a valid licence and whether it complied with medical and safety protocols. Bangkok police are also conducting an investigation.
According to the clinic’s management, Ubiribo had been a regular patient there since 2024 and underwent five injectable enlargement procedures. The first four took place in 2024 and 2025. During his fifth visit on March 5, he was injected with 40 millilitres of filler. Representatives of the facility claim that the doctor advised splitting the procedure into two sessions, but the patient asked for the entire volume to be injected at once.
Thailand’s Minister of Public Health Pattana Promphat said the purpose of the inspection is to ensure fairness and make sure that local and foreign patients receive safe medical care of an appropriate standard.
