A large-scale installation has appeared in downtown Washington, serving as a visual reminder of the Ukrainian children who were evacuated during the war. Twenty thousand teddy bears have been placed right on the National Mall, with each one symbolizing a single child. The event serves as a public reminder of one of the most painful aspects of the war—the forced deportation of children.

The initiative was organized by the charity Together for Ukraine in partnership with the American Coalition for Ukraine. During the installation’s opening, a rally was held featuring American politicians, representatives of the Ukrainian community, and human rights advocates, who emphasized the need to bring the children home.

“This must be non-negotiable: the war will not end until Ukrainian children return home,” said Katya Pavlevich, policy advisor for the organization “Together.”

The organizers emphasize that the installation has not only symbolic but also political significance—to draw international attention to the issue and increase pressure on Russia to return the abducted children.

Separately, a sign with a direct message is placed at the site: “Putin has abducted 20,000 Ukrainian children. Return the children.” The event serves as yet another public reminder of the scale of the problem, which remains one of the key issues on the international agenda regarding the war in Ukraine.

On April 23, Russian troops struck Kryvyi Rih’s railway infrastructure. The attack caused damage to the train station—the blast wave shattered several windows and doors.

In Dnipro, the number of casualties from the Russian nighttime attack has risen. It is known that the strike also claimed the lives of three people.
