In Transbaikalia, garbage collection has been suspended due to a fuel shortage

In the Trans-Baikal Region of the Russian Federation, the regional operator “Oleron+” has temporarily suspended the collection of solid household waste due to a fuel shortage. The restrictions affect the Chernyshevsky, Stritensky, Krasnokamensky, and Gazimuro-Zavodsky districts, home to more than 100,000 people.

Amid the fuel crisis, residents of Chita, Krasnokamensk, Zabaikalsk, and other towns report an almost complete lack of gasoline at gas stations. At some private gas stations, the price of fuel has risen to 140 rubles per liter, and cities have begun cutting public transportation routes and schedules.

Authorities in the Trans-Baikal Region have already imposed restrictions on fuel sales—no more than 15 liters per person—and have declared a state of heightened readiness. One of the reasons cited for the shortage is complex logistics: fuel is delivered from oil refineries located 1,000–3,000 kilometers away, and delivery can take over a month.
