Zaluzhny's office denied rumors of political agreements with Zelenskyy

Valery Zaluzhny’s team stated that his meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was strictly business-related and concerned international cooperation with the United Kingdom. They dismissed any reports of political or electoral agreements as false.

Oksana Torop, press secretary for Valeriy Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom, refuted information that had previously appeared on social media and in some media outlets, regarding alleged political agreements between Valerii Zaluzhnyi and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy concerning the upcoming elections.

According to her, the meeting in Kyiv did indeed take place, but it was strictly business-related and concerned issues of international cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. “Valerii Zaluzhnyi was recently in Kyiv and did indeed have a routine working meeting with the president. They discussed the state of cooperation between Ukraine and the UK, the current political situation in the UK following the change in prime minister, as well as further steps to support Ukraine,” Torop noted in her comment.

She added that similar topics were discussed during Zaluzhny’s other meetings with Ukrainian officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. “Valeriy Zaluzhny also discussed these same issues during meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. There are no political decisions or agreements, as reported by the media,” she emphasized.

The ambassador’s team also stressed that Zaluzhnyy continues to carry out his diplomatic duties in the United Kingdom and is focused on strengthening international support for Ukraine. Earlier, reports circulated on social media about alleged political agreements between the president and the ambassador; however, Zaluzhny’s team noted that these claims are unsubstantiated and originate from unreliable sources, specifically newly created accounts with no established reputation. This was reported by Oksana Torop, media advisor to Valeriy Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has tasked a special working group with preparing the annual address to the Verkhovna Rada; the group is to draft a document outlining Ukraine’s domestic and foreign policy situation. Work on the draft is scheduled to be completed by December 1, 2026.
