US retired teacher plants three saplings in Mu Us Desert after 26 years
American retired teacher Ronald Sakolsky returned to China’s Mu Us Desert, where he planted three saplings together with environmentalist Yin Yuzhen and her husband Bai Wanxiang. This was reported by ECNS.
An acquaintance dating back 26 years
Sakolsky and Yin Yuzhen met 26 years ago. At that time, the American educator donated $5,000 to help her fight desertification and planted a tree with her.

Fighting sand dunes
While inspecting the forest, Sakolsky called what he saw a miracle. Yin Yuzhen recalled the years of fighting shifting sand dunes. According to her, the return of an old friend became a symbol of how perseverance and cooperation can transform landscapes.
