Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a historic agreement in the field of AI

On August 24, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a cooperation agreement in the field of artificial intelligence.

Under the terms of the agreement, the countries will join forces to create new military capabilities and develop technologies of the future.

The British government calls the agreement historic and asserts that it is a key element of the century-long partnership between our countries.

“By combining the UK’s world-leading artificial intelligence ecosystem with Ukraine’s operational experience, engineering talent, and technological innovations, the new agreement, signed today in Ukraine by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Andy Burnham, will provide access to Ukraine’s Avengers AI Labs valuable database,” the statement reads.

This platform provides real-world data and analytics for training artificial intelligence models, collected by thousands of daytime cameras and infrared sensors across the entire battlefield in Ukraine.

These sensors and cameras capture millions of objects, such as tanks, artillery, air defense systems, infantry, and aerial targets—including “Shahed” drones and reconnaissance drones—transmitting the data to Avengers Labs to train new artificial intelligence models.

As part of this partnership, the United Kingdom and Ukraine will also explore other platforms for cooperation.

“Avengers AI Labs,” a veritable treasure trove of battlefield data, will provide British innovators and researchers with unprecedented access to real-world operational data and the opportunity to ‘plug in and work,’” the British government noted.

In return, the UK will provide Ukraine with support in the form of world-leading universities, researchers, technology companies, and the world’s third-largest artificial intelligence ecosystem, allowing Ukraine to leverage British expertise to accelerate the development of solutions to pressing challenges, while transforming hard-won combat experience and unique datasets into technologies that will bring long-term benefits to both countries.

“This revolutionary partnership will combine Ukraine’s unparalleled combat experience with the UK’s world-class artificial intelligence ecosystem, giving us the opportunity to develop the technologies of the future that will change lives here, in the UK, and save lives on the battlefield in Ukraine,” said Andy Burnham.

As part of the agreement, several pilot projects were launched involving three British startups: Sintela from Bristol, Mind Foundry from Oxford, and Skyral from London.

"By bringing together the world’s leading scientists, engineers, and technology companies from the UK with Ukraine’s unique combat experience and data, we will strengthen the defense and security of both our countries," said British Defense Minister Wes Streeting.

This was reported by the British government, according to "European Truth."
