Seven people were killed in a military helicopter crash in Qatar

A major plane crash involving a military helicopter occurred in Qatari territorial waters, killing all seven people on board.

Authorities in the Gulf nation confirmed the tragedy, noting that the crash was caused by a sudden “technical malfunction.”

According to the BBC, rescue services arrived at the scene promptly and have already recovered the bodies of all the victims.

The crash occurred during routine maneuvers conducted as part of enhanced defense cooperation between Doha and Ankara.

According to official data from Qatar and Turkey, the victims of the crash include four Qatari military personnel and one Turkish officer.

Also on board were two civilian specialists—technicians from the leading Turkish defense corporation Aselsan—who were providing flight support.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense clarified that the Qatari military helicopter “was conducting training exercises as part of the Joint Command of Qatari and Turkish Forces.”

A special commission from the Qatari authorities is currently investigating the exact cause of the technical failure that led to the helicopter crashing into the sea.

Aselsan specialists are also involved in the investigation to determine whether there were any system errors in the operation of the helicopter’s onboard equipment.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down an enemy Ka-52 helicopter in Donbas using an FPV drone.

Also, a military helicopter crashed in South Korea, killing two soldiers.
