Four-year-old child dies in house fire in Australia

A four-year-old child died in a house fire in the village of Woodstock in the Central West region of the Australian state of New South Wales. Woodstock is located about 20 kilometres northeast of the town of Cowra.

House fire

Firefighters were called to the house shortly before 3:00 p.m. on September 12. By the time they arrived, the house was already engulfed in flames, ABC News reports.

A woman and two other children managed to leave the house, but the whereabouts of the four-year-old child remained unknown at the time. After the fire was extinguished, rescuers found the child's body inside the house.

Woman's condition and investigation

The woman was taken to Cowra Hospital in stable condition after smoke inhalation. Police established a crime scene and continue to determine the circumstances of the fire.
