In Mildura, Victoria, Australia, a 33-year-old woman has been charged after an illegal drug import destined for the regional city was intercepted. According to ABC News, detectives arrested her at an address in Mildura on Friday morning.

Interception at Melbourne Airport

Victoria Police allege that the woman attempted to import about 500 millilitres of 1,4-butanediol, also known as bute. The Australian Federal Police describes the substance as harmful and linked to sexual assaults and overdoses.

The Australian Border Force intercepted the substance at Melbourne Airport in June. The arrest was part of an investigation involving several agencies.

Bail and court hearing

The arrest was carried out by detectives from Mildura's Operational Response Unit. The woman was charged with the federal offence of importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled substance. She was remanded in custody until a hearing at the Mildura Magistrates' Court, scheduled for 16 December.
