Estonia signs contract to develop southern areas of Rail Baltica terminal
Rail Baltic Estonia has signed a contract for the construction of the southern outdoor areas of the Rail Baltica Ülemiste Linda international terminal in Tallinn. Following the signing of the agreement, all parts of the terminal are covered by construction contracts, ERR News reports.
Contract worth nearly €22 million
The agreement is worth nearly €22 million. Construction company Atemo will develop the southern part of the terminal area, covering approximately 33,000 square meters. This is intended to provide an exit from the station toward the Ülemiste City district and the airport.
The project provides for the construction of a southern entrance to the terminal and the new Lõunaväljak square in front of it. Plans also include reconstructing about 20,000 square meters of street space and completing the tunnel that is part of the terminal complex and runs beneath Suur-Sõjamäe Street.

Connection to the airport
Rail Baltic Estonia CEO Anvar Salomets said that Suur-Sõjamäe Street will be rebuilt with a pedestrian underpass. According to him, Lõunaväljak square will provide a connection to Ülemiste City and the Ülemiste shopping center, creating an integrated urban space and conditions for future development.
The future European Square will connect the terminal to the airport, Salomets said.
