Europe is using Brazil as a mediator in negotiations with Russia

Brazil maintains a neutral stance in the war against Ukraine, upholding a multipolar world order and the principle of non-interference. Thanks to this approach, the country has retained the ability to negotiate with both Western nations and Russia.

According to Célso Amorim, Special Advisor to the President of Brazil on International Affairs, officials and ministers from Western European countries have repeatedly approached the Brazilian side with requests to act as a mediator in the dialogue with Moscow.

“In some cases, the president has approached me personally; in others, other officials, ambassadors, and ministers from Western European countries have done so. They are asking us to engage in dialogue with Russia because they say that Brazil is one of the few countries that maintains dialogue with both the West and Russia,” Amorim stated.

Two influential Democrats in the U.S. Senate have appealed to representatives of the Donald Trump administration regarding the lack of new sanctions against Russia. According to them, no restrictions against Moscow have been imposed for 17 months.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that after the NATO summit in Turkey, he was secretly transferred from Air Force One to another military aircraft. According to the American leader, the decision was made due to a threat from Iran.
