Funerals held in Iran for victims of strike on girls’ school

Large crowds gathered in Minab, southern Iran, to mourn students killed in an attack on a girls’ elementary school, chanting and holding photos of the victims, according to the Iranian state broadcaster IRIB. This incident is considered the deadliest attack on children since the US bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the British bombing of Dresden.

Iranian state media report that at least 165 schoolgirls died in the strike, with ten hospitals and the largest maternity hospital in Tehran also hit. Iran accuses the US and Israel of carrying out the attacks, which have reportedly killed over 700 people in Iran and more than 500 in Lebanon. Meanwhile, major Western outlets like Reuters, CNN, and The New York Times have given minimal coverage to who is responsible for this horrific act.

This tragedy raises serious concerns about civilian safety in the region and may escalate tensions in international relations.
