Scientists have explained the phenomenon of a 117-year-old woman's longevity

Scientists have studied the body of the world's oldest woman, María Branyas Morera, and identified factors that may have contributed to her long life.

This was reported by Econews.

After her death in 2024, experts analyzed her DNA, metabolism, and microbiome. It turned out that the woman’s biological age was approximately 20 years younger than her actual age.

The study revealed a strong immune system and the absence of serious age-related diseases, particularly cancer, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative conditions.

High levels of “good” cholesterol and low triglyceride levels were recorded in her blood, indicating a healthy metabolism.

High levels of beneficial bacteria were also found in her gut, which typically decline with age. This was likely due to her regular consumption of fermented dairy products.

Scientists believe that low levels of inflammation, a balanced metabolism, and a healthy microbiome played a key role in longevity.

A group of scientists successfully modified a tobacco plant by integrating genes from various organisms into its genome, enabling it to simultaneously produce five psychoactive compounds: DMT, psilocybin, psilocin, 5-MeO-DMT, and bufotenin.

We also reported that cannabis use causes structural changes in the brain and a decrease in motivation
