Vance called Trump Israel's only powerful ally in the world — The Guardian

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance spoke out in defense of the new agreement with Iran and sharply rebuked Israeli officials who had criticized the deal and attacked the American leader.

During an official briefing at the White House, he emphasized that U.S. President Donald Trump remains the chief defender of the Israeli people on the international stage.

Washington has concluded a major agreement with Iran, which immediately sparked a wave of serious discontent among both American analysts and officials in Tel Aviv.

Critics of the agreement stress that the new terms in no way restrict Iran’s dangerous missile program and do not provide a clear mechanism for the complete dismantling of its nuclear facilities.

Furthermore, the agreement significantly ties the hands of the Israel Defense Forces in their confrontation with militants from the radical group “Hezbollah” in Lebanon.

Journalists asked the vice president about reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was allegedly deeply outraged by the signed document.

J.D. Vance noted that he personally had not heard such statements directly from the head of the Israeli government.

However, he harshly criticized those individual Israeli officials who had taken the liberty of making public attacks against the U.S. administration.

“My message to them consists of two parts. First: Donald Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who shows sympathy for the people of Israel. If I were part of the Israeli government, I probably wouldn’t attack the only powerful ally I have left in the world,” the U.S. vice president stated candidly.

The second part of his speech concerned the enormous amount of financial and technical support that Washington has been providing to its partner in the Middle East for years.

The official noted that two-thirds of the defensive weapons currently protecting the Jewish state from external threats were manufactured by American specialists and funded by U.S. taxpayers.

Overall, the United States consistently provides Israel with approximately $4 billion in military aid annually, and the two countries are currently negotiating a new bilateral aid agreement.

This was reported by The Guardian.
