Explosion Near the TCC in Lviv Oblast; SBU Detains Two Suspects

On September 17, an explosion occurred near the Stryi District Military Training Center and Joint Staff in Mykolaiv, Lviv Oblast. According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), an explosive device was thrown from a vehicle onto the grounds of the military facility, after which it detonated. One servicemember was injured in the explosion, and law enforcement officials have already detained two suspects.

The explosion near the Stryi District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center in Mykolaiv, Lviv Oblast, occurred on September 17 at approximately 4:30 p.m. The Security Service of Ukraine is investigating the incident as a terrorist act. According to the investigation, the explosive device was thrown from a car passing by the center. Surveillance cameras helped law enforcement establish a preliminary picture of the incident.

As specified by the prosecutor’s office, a Daewoo Lanos drove past the open gates of the military facility prior to the explosion. The video shows a person in the front passenger seat throwing an unidentified explosive device onto the center’s grounds. Afterward, a servicemember approached the object. It was at that very moment that the explosion occurred. “Before the explosion, a Daewoo Lanos drove past the open gates of the military facility. Surveillance cameras recorded an unidentified person in the front passenger seat throwing an explosive device onto the territory of the military facility,” the prosecutor’s office reported.

As a result of the explosion, the soldier was injured. Medical personnel examined him and provided the necessary assistance on the spot. Law enforcement officials quickly identified the individuals believed to be involved in the incident. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported the detention of two men. Investigators are currently determining all the circumstances surrounding the explosion. They are also checking whether other individuals may have been involved in the planning and organization of this crime.

The case is being investigated under Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—terrorist act. Law enforcement officials continue to gather evidence and reconstruct the full sequence of events—from the preparation of the explosion to the moment the suspects were detained. The investigation is currently determining other details of the case, including the suspects’ motives and the possible involvement of other individuals. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Security Service of Ukraine’s Lviv Regional Directorate.

In Ivano-Frankivsk, a court sentenced a man who threw stones at a vehicle carrying a police officer and three members of the Territorial Defense Forces. As a result of the incident, the vehicle’s windshield and hood were damaged. The court sentenced the man to two years of restricted freedom but suspended his sentence, subject to a one-year probationary period.
