Video: Two firefighting helicopters collided in midair in Greece

A plane crash occurred near the town of Psatha in Greece, involving two firefighting helicopters that had been deployed to fight a forest fire in a remote area. While carrying out the mission, the helicopters collided in midair and crashed into a ravine.

According to the publication Naftemporik, the crew of the first helicopter survived: one of the pilots made contact on his own and reported that he was safe, while his colleague sustained injuries.

The fate of the second crew remains unknown at this time. A search-and-rescue operation is underway at the crash site, complicated by rugged terrain, smoke, and strong gusts of wind. Adverse weather conditions or pilot error are among the preliminary causes being considered.
