Video: Teenager Arrested in the Moscow Region for Setting Fire to a Gas Station
In the Moscow Region, Russian law enforcement officers detained a 13-year-old schoolboy who set fire to a fuel dispenser at a local gas station.
A criminal case has been opened against the minor under the article on terrorist acts.
According to investigators, the teenager took this action under pressure from unknown individuals on a messaging app who threatened him after obtaining his geolocation data.
The incident took place in the Moscow region, where the boy had traveled by taxi. Officials from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the teenager had prepared a flammable mixture in advance to carry out his plan.
The student doused a gas pump with flammable liquid, set it on fire, and quickly fled the scene of the crime in an attempt to avoid prosecution.
Police officers reviewed surveillance camera footage and identified the suspected perpetrator.
Shortly thereafter, investigators detained the teenager and took him to the nearest police station for further investigation.
Russian law enforcement authorities opened a case under Article 205 (“Terrorist Act”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for severe punishment.
During the interrogation, which was conducted in accordance with procedural rules, the detainee described in detail the motives and background of his actions.
In the presence of his legal representatives, the teenager explained that he had begun chatting with a girl on a messaging app.
During this virtual conversation, the boy decided to share information about his current location.
