Video: Ukrainian flag removed in Kosovo's capital; calls for respect
In Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, the Ukrainian flag was removed from a building in the city center. Mayor Perparim Rama stated that this was due to the need to “respect the state of Kosovo.”
He announced this on Facebook on August 9, posting a video showing the Ukrainian flag being taken down from the building.
“When Kosovo is not respected, the capital, Pristina, always reacts the same way,” Rama said.
At the same time, the mayor emphasized that Pristina continues to support peoples facing war, violence, and persecution. According to him, Kosovo knows “better than many others” what it means to fight for freedom, dignity, and the right to exist as a state.
At the same time, Rama stated that no policy should be based on undermining Kosovo’s statehood or the sacrifices of its people.

The decision to remove the Ukrainian flag was made following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Serbia, where he met with President Aleksandar Vučić.

In the partially recognized province of Kosovo, voting began on Sunday, June 7, in the snap parliamentary elections.
