A military operation in Iran could cost the U.S. $100 billion – NBC

The United States’ costs for conducting a military operation in Iran could turn out to be significantly higher than previous estimates and reach between 80 billion and 100 billion dollars. This amount is nearly three times higher than the figures publicly announced by the Pentagon, due to the need to replace destroyed equipment, replenish weapons stockpiles, and repair damaged military facilities.

Earlier, during Senate hearings, Jules Hurst, acting deputy secretary of defense for finance, stated that the expected costs would be around $30 billion. This figure included operating expenses and the replenishment of arsenals but did not account for the restoration of military bases damaged in the Middle East. The official also noted that these estimates were based on outdated data from several months ago.

New internal military estimates indicate that the campaign has become significantly more expensive, taking actual losses into account. In particular, repairs to U.S. military facilities in Bahrain alone could cost more than $1 billion. Additional expenses will include compensation for destroyed aircraft and emergency replenishment of ammunition.

This was reported by NBC, citing its own sources familiar with internal estimates from the U.S. Department of Defense.

The U.S. Senate was unable to pass the defense bill due to disputes over Iran.

As a reminder, on July 15, the U.S. military announced another operation against Iranian military targets. According to the U.S. military, restrictions on shipping to and from Iranian ports were simultaneously reinstated as part of enhanced maritime control.

Trump officially notified Congress of the resumption of the U.S. war with Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he had left clear instructions to launch an unprecedented strike against Iran if Tehran succeeded in carrying out a plan to eliminate him.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran had approached Washington with a request to resume the negotiation process. According to him, the U.S. side agreed to continue the dialogue.
