The Israeli military has decided to destroy all bridges across the Litani River in southern Lebanon
Israel’s military leadership has ordered the immediate destruction of all bridges across the Litani River and the accelerated demolition of buildings in border villages in southern Lebanon.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced this on March 23, 2026, explaining that the decision was necessary to block Hezbollah’s logistics, according to The Insider. The tactic of destroying infrastructure is directly comparable to operations in the Gaza Strip aimed at preventing the transfer of reinforcements and weapons to militants.

The Israel Defense Forces have already carried out airstrikes on the key Al-Qasimia Bridge, rendering it unusable and effectively isolating the south of the country. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called these actions a dangerous escalation and a direct preparation for a full-scale ground invasion. Israel cites the complete elimination of the threat to its northern settlements and the creation of a buffer zone as the main objectives of the operation, which is leading to the systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure.
The situation in the Middle East is escalating in parallel with active combat operations in Ukraine, where the Defense Forces are successfully destroying Russian air defense systems in the Bryansk and Donetsk regions. While Israel blocks Hezbollah’s logistics, Ukrainian drone units led by Robert Madjar are demonstrating high effectiveness in depleting Russian resources. Both conflicts are forcing the international community to rethink approaches to regional security and the protection of critical infrastructure, as outlined in Ukraine’s resilience plan presented in Brussels.
It is worth noting that the U.S. and Israel have different objectives in the war against Iran.
Israel also bombed a port from which Iran was supplying weapons to Russia.
