Vice President Vance to hold first White House briefing in more than 40 days — The Hill
US Vice President J.D. Vance will hold a briefing for journalists at the White House on September 3. It will be the first White House briefing since July, the institution’s press office said, The Hill reports.
The White House press office said on social media platform X that Vance will speak from the podium at 1:00 p.m. The last White House briefing was held on July 23, when press secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed journalists.
Change of press secretary
Last week, Leavitt ended her work as White House press secretary. She is moving to work at the MAGA Inc. super PAC linked to President Donald Trump and will continue to advise the president.

Before the July 23 briefing, Leavitt returned after two and a half months of leave following the birth of a child. During her absence, various administration officials addressed journalists, including Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Vance’s previous briefing
Vance last held a briefing for journalists on June 18, shortly after the Trump administration reached a preliminary agreement with Iranian officials to halt hostilities. According to The Hill, the 60-day ceasefire stipulated by the agreement ended last month without signs of lasting peace.
Trump has not yet announced a permanent successor to Leavitt. On her last day in office, she said that the president is “his own best spokesperson.”
