Zakharova criticized the figure skater for complaining about sanctions in Italy

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on statements made by Russian figure skater Adelie Petrosyan, who said she was unable to purchase jewelry at Milan’s airport due to sanctions.

Zakharova stated that one should not buy goods in countries that allegedly discriminate against citizens on the basis of nationality.

This is reported by Russian propaganda media.

Petrosyan, who competed at the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, said she was refused service at Dior and Louis Vuitton stores at Milan’s airport because of her Russian passport.

“Why buy from those who discredit you on the basis of your nationality?” Zakharova stated.

“I was left with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth after visiting the store at the airport. I wanted to buy some earrings and a ring. The girl asks for my passport, sees this burgundy document, and says, ‘It’s like this—we can’t sell to people from Russia.’ I thought, okay, we’re flying back from the Olympics; we have a friend from Georgia, I’ll bring him over and we’ll buy them. He pulls out his passport, then his boarding pass. The girl says, ‘I’m very sorry, you’re flying to Moscow; we can’t sell to you either,’” Petrosyan recounted.

The Russian Foreign Ministry urged Russians to refrain from traveling to Germany.

Zakharova accused Israel of a “deliberate” strike against an RT propagandist.

Zakharova called Pugachova’s interview a “marketplace of hypocrisy.”
