Zelenskyy said that Ukraine may send experts to the Baltic states in response to the drone incidents
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to assist the Baltic states in countering stray drones, which have been spotted more frequently in their airspace recently. According to him, this involves the possibility of sending expert teams who can share Ukraine’s experience in countering aerial threats.
Zelenskyy was asked whether Ukraine plans to take any action regarding drone incidents in the Baltic states, some of which involve Ukrainian drones that have strayed off course.
The president assured that Ukraine will continue to launch long-range strikes on Russian territory. He emphasized that Russia seeks to escalate tensions within the European Union, sometimes altering the course of Ukrainian drones.
“For example, when we are responding to certain Russian strikes, and if a Russian drone appears in the skies over Latvia, Lithuania, or Estonia, it’s clear why. And when a Ukrainian drone appears, we understand that they can alter the course of our drones. This is not widespread. There have been isolated such cases, thanks to electronic warfare systems,” Zelenskyy said.
He stated that Ukraine had sent its expert teams of drone specialists to countries in the Middle East and is now ready to do the same for the Baltic states and other European countries.
“We did this in the Middle East, and it worked. Now we are ready to do the same with our close partners in Europe. We are ready for this,” the president said.
He added that one solution could be to conclude a “drone deal”—an agreement that would regulate such cooperation.
“A drone deal isn’t just about selling or buying something. These are important matters, even the ones we’re discussing right now. That’s why we’re ready to send our expert teams at any time, and we’re already doing this and will continue to do so with our close partners,” he added, according to the EP.
