Actress Mahira Khan announces second pregnancy at TIFF in Toronto, Canada
Pakistani actress Mahira Khan announced that she is expecting her second child while attending the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada. As Dawn reports, she will also moderate a discussion as part of the Community Impact program.

Khan is set to attend the world premiere of Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, directed by Bassam Tariq. The film stars Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali.
The actress will lead a conversation with Tariq about storytelling and representation, the experience of South Asian communities in the diaspora, and the importance of more authentic portrayals of such communities in global cinema.
Khan and Tariq are also set to receive the Muslim Excellence in Cinema and Art award from the Muslim International Film Festival Toronto. The award recognizes contributions to cinema and the introduction of underrepresented stories and perspectives to wider audiences.

According to the actress, it is important for her to speak on an international platform about Pakistan as a distinct voice in South Asia, with its own stories, identity, and cinema. Her participation in TIFF is part of the South Asian Women Excellence in Cinema and Arts Programme, initiated by Us Studios in cooperation with the Muslim International Film Festival Toronto.
Second pregnancy
Khan said that her current pregnancy is different and more difficult for her than the first one. She gave birth to her eldest son, Azlan, 17 years ago, when she was 24; the actress is now 41.
According to Khan, she usually protects her private life, so she hesitated over whether to speak publicly about her pregnancy. Ultimately, the actress decided not to hide this stage of her life. For the TIFF red carpet, she chose a sari by the brand Aafrinish by Niazi.
