Selena Gomez Has Been Accused of Fraud — Bloomberg

American singer and actress Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Tiffi, and her business partner Daniella Pearson have been accused of fraud. Investors claim that Gomez failed to fulfill her promises to promote a mental health startup, causing them to suffer losses.

Five minority investors have filed a lawsuit in federal court in Delaware, demanding the return of funds they invested in the mental health startup Wondermind Global Inc., which collapsed last year.

Wondermind was founded in 2021 to promote the concept of “mental fitness” and support mental health. In 2022, during a funding round, the startup was valued at $95 million. The company raised $5 million in investments, including from tennis player Serena Williams’ venture capital fund, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Sequoia Capital, as well as $1.2 million from a group of private investors, including former Allergan CEO Brent Saunders.

According to the plaintiffs, the startup’s key selling point was the involvement of Selena Gomez herself, who served as chief marketing officer and was supposed to engage the audience through her social media accounts, which have over 500 million followers. In addition, management claimed to have partnerships with major financial institutions, such as JPMorgan Chase and Fidelity, as well as to be developing a dedicated mobile app.

The lawsuit states that the promised products and revenue streams were never created, and development of the mobile app never even began. The plaintiffs allege that Gomez completely ignored her contractual obligations—in part due to personal conflicts with her mother—and attempted to distance herself from the project. The investors emphasize that for three years, the founders concealed the company’s true financial condition and operational problems from them; they only learned of these issues in the fall of 2025 through a journalistic investigation. The defendants have not yet commented on the situation.
