Family problems led Brad Pitt to contemplate suicide
Oscar-winning actor Brad Pitt admitted that he went through an extremely difficult emotional period at one point due to family problems. According to the actor, he was so depressed that he contemplated suicide as a way to end his suffering.
Pitt also described how difficult those experiences were, recalling the feelings of fear and hopelessness that overwhelmed him at the time.
He also admitted that he no longer adheres to strict restrictions on alcohol and may allow himself a few glasses of wine.
Brad Pitt had previously spoken about his alcohol addiction, attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and completely giving up alcohol. However, as the star actor says, his addiction is now a thing of the past.
The star of *Once Upon a Time in Hollywood* also spoke about his suicidal thoughts. He emphasized that he has always been an optimist and has only contemplated suicide once.
“I’ve never had suicidal thoughts, except for one brief period. And back then, I just couldn’t… I just didn’t see a way out. The pain was so overwhelming that… I wasn’t going to go through with it, but I could feel the coldness of the bullet in my head, and it felt like a relief. And I thought, ‘Oh, okay, now I get it—suicide is just a way to find relief from pain,’” Brad Pitt shared.
He added that thanks to an incredible instinct for self-preservation, he managed to pull through back then. When asked by a reporter what had caused him to feel so overwhelmed, Brad Pitt replied succinctly: “Family problems.”
Although the actor did not go into further detail, it is well known that he faced difficulties during his divorce from his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie. Angelina accused him of physical abuse, and some of his children decided to drop the Pitt surname.
