Ukrainian Ambassador to Oman Criticized: What We Know About Olha Selich and Her Connections

The dress code of Ukraine’s ambassador to Oman, Olha Selich, has come under criticism on social media and in the media. The discussion arose after publications showing the diplomat in informal attire — specifically leggings and flip-flops — during events in the countries of the Persian Gulf.

Users questioned the appropriateness of such clothing for official or diplomatic events in a region where fairly conservative traditions and protocol norms apply.

In particular, the discussion focused on her possible participation in events such as the “iftar” — the evening meal during the Muslim month of Ramadan.

At the same time, public sources also highlighted aspects of the diplomat’s biography.

Olha Selich (born 1983, in the city of Liuboml) was previously a co-founder of the company IBK “Donetsk-Monolitstalbud.” Another co-founder of the firm is Valentyna Kochura (born 1949, Kyiv).

According to public registries, Valentyna Kochura’s son is former member of parliament Yuriy Miroshnychenko. He is known as one of the leaders of the political force “Party for the Development of Ukraine,” associated with politician Serhiy Lyovochkin.

In this context, media speculation has emerged about political and business connections. However, there have been no official comments from the diplomatic mission or the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the situation.

Earlier reports noted that Olha Selich — Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Oman — became the center of discussion on social media due to her appearance at the iftar. Users paid attention to the outfit the diplomat wore at the event.
