A large-scale fire broke out at a factory in the Rivne region; firefighting equipment was deployed
In the village of Varkovychi, Dubno District, Rivne Region, firefighters extinguished a large-scale fire on the premises of a business. The fire engulfed the warehouse and dry grass near the building.
A report of a fire in a warehouse building was received on August 11 at 12:32 p.m.
“Upon arriving at the scene, rescue workers saw that the fire had engulfed the warehouse facilities. Dry grass was also burning in an open area next to the warehouse,” the State Emergency Service reported.
At 3:04 p.m., the fire was contained, and it was fully extinguished by 5:49 p.m.
A total of 48 firefighters and 17 pieces of specialized equipment were deployed to fight the fire.
There were no casualties or injuries. The cause of the fire and the extent of property damage are currently being determined.
According to the Varkovychi Rural Territorial Community, the fire occurred at a facility that manufactures plastic panels and sheets—including foam and expanded polystyrene—as well as dry construction mixes.
Due to the fire, residents were advised to keep their windows closed.
The Rivne Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that as of 8:00 p.m. on August 11, laboratory tests in Varkovychi showed that permissible concentrations had been exceeded:
- nitrogen dioxide—1.4 times the limit;
- soot—nearly 3 times the limit.
Excess levels were also detected in the village of Molodizhne: nitrogen dioxide—1.1 times the limit, and soot—2 times the limit.
At the same time, no exceedances were recorded for the other parameters tested—sulfur dioxide, formaldehyde, and phenol.
