Poland temporarily closed its airports due to a massive Russian attack on Ukraine
In response to Russia’s large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine, Poland implemented security measures, including deploying combat aircraft and temporarily restricting operations at civilian airports.
This was reported on Twitter by the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA).
According to reports, flights at the Lublin-Radwec and Rzeszów-Jasionka airports were temporarily suspended for security reasons and to ensure the freedom of action for military aviation.
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces also scrambled fighter jets to patrol the country’s airspace. Such actions are a standard NATO response procedure to potential threats near the Alliance’s eastern flank.
Warsaw emphasized that the decision was preventive and related to the intensity of Russian attacks near Poland’s borders and risks to air traffic safety in the region.
Over the past 24 hours, from 7:00 a.m. on April 15 to 7:00 a.m. on April 16, Ukraine’s air defense forces neutralized 667 aerial targets used by Russia to attack the country’s territory.
In Dnipro, the death toll from a nighttime attack by Russian forces has risen. As of now, two people are known to have been killed and 27 wounded.
At least four people were killed. Another 21 people were injured.
Earlier, Russian troops attacked the Bila Tserkva district in the Kyiv region, resulting in a fire at one of the enterprises.
