BMW unveils electric iX4 with a range of up to 428 miles — InsideEVs
BMW has unveiled its first electric iX4 crossover with a coupe-style body. The iX4 50 xDrive version, which will be the first to enter the U.S. market in March 2027, will have a claimed range of up to 428 miles. This was reported by InsideEVs.
The new model is built on the same platform as the BMW iX3 and uses a 112.2 kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain producing 463 hp. At the same time, the iX4's claimed range is six miles less than that of the comparable iX3 50 xDrive.
Charging and versions
The maximum DC fast-charging power for the iX4 50 xDrive is 400 kW. In 10 minutes of charging, the vehicle can add up to 183 miles of range. Its onboard AC charger has an output of 15.4 kW.
BMW later plans to launch the iX4 M60 xDrive with a 112.3 kWh battery and output of up to 603 hp. According to the company, this version will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. It will receive adaptive M suspension, sport steering and a rear limited-slip differential.

In Europe, a more affordable iX4 40 xDrive version will also be sold. It will have an 82.6 kWh battery, 368-hp all-wheel drive and a range of up to 638 km under the WLTP cycle. Its DC charging is limited to 300 kW.
Interior and practicality
All iX4 versions will come standard with a fixed glass roof, the M Sport package, 20-inch wheels and an M Sport braking system with blue calipers. The M60 xDrive will feature 21-inch wheels, M Sport seats and a Harman Kardon audio system.
The interior will feature a 17.9-inch central display, a narrow display along the lower part of the windshield, a 3D head-up display and a voice assistant based on Amazon Alexa+ technology. The vehicle will support V2L and V2H functions through the BMW Multifunction Charger with additional adapters.
Due to the sloping roof, the European version's trunk volume will be 490 liters with the rear seats up and up to 1,600 liters with them folded. BMW will produce the iX4 at its new plant in Debrecen, Hungary, alongside the iX3.
