CATL has unveiled a new-generation battery for electric vehicles
CATL, the Chinese company and global leader in battery manufacturing, unveiled the new generation of its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery—the Shenxing 3rd Gen—at the "2026 Super Tech Day" event.
CarNewsChina reports on this.
The new product sets new industry standards, effectively bringing the charging time of an electric vehicle in line with that of a traditional internal combustion engine car.
The main highlight was the charging speed.
Thanks to its ultra-low internal resistance of just 0.25 milliohms (50% lower than the industry average), the battery delivers phenomenal results at charging stations.
Key charging metrics:
- From 10% to 35%: in just 1 minute.
- From 10% to 80%: in 3 minutes and 44 seconds.
- From 10% to 98%: in 6 minutes and 27 seconds.
Honda is closing factories and switching to electric vehicles
Ford has also announced a massive recall of about 1.4 million F-150 pickups in the U.S. due to a technical issue that could cause the vehicle to suddenly shift into a lower gear.
