Dacia unveils the second generation of the Spring electric car
Dacia has unveiled the second generation of the compact Spring electric hatchback. The model has received a completely new body, an 80-hp electric motor, and a 27.5-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. As Motor1 reports, the car’s starting price in Italy will be €17,900, while in Europe it will be below €20,000 excluding government subsidies.
The new Spring is the first of four fully electric vehicles that Dacia plans to launch by the end of the decade. Since 2021, more than 210,000 Spring cars have been sold in over 40 countries. Production of the new generation has been moved from China to a Renault Group plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
Larger body and new design
The electric car has retained its city-car format but has become larger than its predecessor: it is 3.85 meters long and 1.74 meters wide. Its length has increased by 15 centimeters and its width by 18 centimeters. The model has received a more upright front end, pronounced wheel arches, and black decorative elements linking the front and rear lights.

The single electric motor produces 80 hp and 175 Nm of torque. The Spring accelerates to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds, while its top speed is 130 km/h.
Range and equipment
The 27.5-kWh LFP battery provides a range of up to 250 kilometers under the WLTP cycle. The standard 6.6-kW AC charger charges the battery from 15% to 80% in nine hours from a household outlet. A version with an 11-kW charger cuts this time to 1 hour 55 minutes, while an optional 50-kW DC fast charger reduces it to 28 minutes.
The interior features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a central 10.1-inch screen. Depending on the trim level, keyless entry, a rear-view camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, and a V2L function for powering small electrical devices from the vehicle’s battery will be available. Boot capacity reaches 337 liters, or 1,283 liters with the rear seats folded; an optional 18-liter compartment under the hood is also provided.
