Land Rover to unveil four military Defender Wolf Series II vehicles in the UK
On September 16–17, Land Rover will unveil four military versions of the Defender Wolf Series II at the British Army DVD 2026 event at the Millbrook proving ground in Bedfordshire, United Kingdom. The vehicles were created to take part in the UK Ministry of Defence tender for light military transport vehicles, Motor1 reports.
New Wolf platform
The Wolf Series II became the first military vehicle in this line to be built on the current-generation Defender platform. Unlike previous body-on-frame Wolfs, the new model uses the unibody D7x architecture that underpins civilian Defenders.
The Wolf name has been used for Land Rover defence vehicles since the late 1990s. At the same time, the brand has supplied vehicles for defence needs for around 70 years. JLR said that the Wolf Series II was designed and developed in the United Kingdom, and its design underwent about 62,000 tests. According to the company, the vehicle was also tested under the Extreme Event Test procedures used for the brand's road models.
For direct work with military and other government customers, JLR has already established a separate Defender Defence division.

Four versions for the tender
The Millbrook proving ground will showcase a tactical transport vehicle, a general mobility vehicle, an ambulance version, and a utility modification. They are intended to transport military personnel, equipment, or wounded people.
All four modifications are aimed at the Light Mobility Vehicle competition within the broader Land Mobility Programme of the British defence ministry. The tender terms provide for nine vehicle variants on a common base platform, while industry trials are scheduled to begin at the end of October 2026.
Among other contenders for the contract, Motor1 names Team Grenadier with militarized versions of the Grenadier, as well as proposals based on the GM Colorado and Infantry Squad Vehicle, Toyota Land Cruiser 70, and Ford Ranger. More detailed specifications for the four Defender Wolf Series II versions are expected during DVD 2026.
