The new Peugeot 208 was unveiled well before its premiere

The new Peugeot 208 hasn't been officially unveiled yet, but the first photos of it have already appeared online. The third-generation hatchback will feature an all-new design, will be exclusively electric, and will be able to travel up to 500 kilometers on a single charge.

The new Peugeot 208 won’t be officially unveiled until mid-2027, but the first images of the model have already been published online. The photos appeared on the Chinese website Autohome and offer a glimpse of what the future compact hatchback will look like. The car’s exterior has changed quite noticeably. The designers have moved away from smooth curves in favor of sharper lines and edges. The new model is styled after the Peugeot Polygon concept, which the company unveiled last year.

One of the most interesting details is the headlights. They are designed as LED strips and resemble the grille of the legendary Peugeot 205, which was produced in the 1980s. At the rear, the car also features a large spoiler that partially covers the rear window. The new Peugeot 208 will be one of the first models from the Stellantis group built on the STLA One platform. This platform provides access to modern technologies, including a drive-by-wire system, in which the steering wheel has no mechanical connection to the front wheels. All commands are transmitted electronically.

Another significant change is that the model will completely phase out gasoline engines. The third generation will be offered exclusively as the Peugeot e-208 electric vehicle. The car will be equipped with a new lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery. It is expected to provide a range of approximately 500 kilometers on a single charge. The manufacturer also plans to make the model more affordable—the starting price is expected to be less than 30,000 euros.

At the same time, the current Peugeot 208 will not disappear from the market immediately after the new generation is launched. The company plans to update the current model and continue its production until 2030. It will continue to be sold with gasoline and hybrid powertrains.

In this way, Peugeot is pursuing a two-pronged strategy: gradually expanding its lineup of electric vehicles while, at the same time, taking its time to phase out traditional engines, giving buyers a choice for several more years. This information comes from the Autohome website, where photos of the hatchback have already been posted.

As a reminder, Ukrainians have been buying gasoline-powered cars more frequently and have identified the most popular model.

Tesla ended the second quarter with record vehicle deliveries. The company delivered over 480,000 electric cars to customers, significantly exceeding analysts’ forecasts and posting its best result for this period in its entire history.
