Polestar teases Formula 2030 concept for future Polestar 2 and 7
Polestar has released a teaser for the Formula 2030 design study, which demonstrates the further development of the brand’s electric vehicle styling. Elements of the concept are expected to appear in the next-generation Polestar 2, whose debut is anticipated in 2027, as well as in the future Polestar 7 crossover, InsideEVs reports.
Design evolution
Polestar’s head of design, Philipp Römers, said that the company does not plan to move far away from its established visual identity. In particular, the brand will retain the Dual Blade headlights. At the same time, Polestar is preparing an updated style, a new interior, and will focus on using more environmentally friendly materials.
For now, the company has shown only a dark teaser of the front end of the Formula 2030. The concept resembles a low sedan with more grounded proportions than the brand’s previous models. The front design visually emphasizes the car’s width. The full concept is expected to be presented later in 2026 during a media event related to the Polestar 4.

Upcoming models and company results
The next Polestar 2 will remain a sedan and will replace the company’s best-selling model. According to the manufacturer, Polestar 2 sales have exceeded 190,000 vehicles. The Polestar 7 is scheduled to arrive in 2028 and will be a crossover relative of the new Polestar 2.
After publishing its results for the first half of 2026, Polestar shares fell by almost 30%. Vehicle sales rose by 0.4% year-on-year, but revenue declined by 4.4%, while the net loss for the six months amounted to $842 million. The company also said that US authorities had not granted it permission to sell 2027 model-year vehicles and newer under the connected vehicle rule. Polestar will be able to sell inventories of vehicles from previous model years in the US and expects to stop selling new vehicles in the country after those stocks are exhausted.
