Tesla registers 45 Cybercabs for robotaxi service in Texas
According to InsideEVs, Tesla has registered 45 Cybercab vehicles in the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles database for its robotaxi fleet. Ahead of the model's launch event, several such vehicles were spotted on the streets of Austin: they were moving through city traffic, stopping to pick up and drop off passengers.

Just a few days ago, only Model Y vehicles were listed in Tesla's robotaxi service registration database, the publication reports, citing Tesla observer Sawyer Merritt.
In a video shared on the social network X, several Cybercabs are driving through a busy intersection in Austin. The publication notes that it is unknown whether these vehicles were operating in fully autonomous mode: some cars have visible drivers and steering wheels, while in others this is difficult to determine.

Preparations for the launch
Tesla has been testing the Cybercab in Texas and other locations, mostly with drivers behind the wheel. The company plans to launch the two-seat robotaxi, designed specifically for passenger transportation, at an event in Austin on Thursday.
According to InsideEVs, the Cybercab will not have a steering wheel or brake pedal, and Tesla plans to produce 125,000 such vehicles per year. The company currently operates driverless Model Ys in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando and Tampa, although outside Austin this service remains limited in scale.
Cybercabs have also been spotted in other parts of the United States, including New York. Tesla has been producing these vehicles at its Texas factory for several months, but the pace at which they are being deployed to transport paying passengers remains unknown.
