Johannesburg to host annual Alfa Romeo Concorso d’Eleganza
The annual Concorso d’Eleganza, organized by the Alfa Romeo Club of South Africa, will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, on September 20. The event at Modderfontein Bird & Sculpture Park will showcase classic and modern cars from the Italian brand, TimesLIVE reports.

This year’s event will pay special attention to the 60th anniversary of the iconic Duetto Spider. The exhibition will cover more than 116 years of Alfa Romeo history and demonstrate the brand’s distinctive Italian design, motorsport heritage and driver-focused approach.
Among the modern cars on display will be the new Junior Veloce and the high-performance Stelvio Quadrifoglio. They will be presented alongside classic models to show the evolution of Alfa Romeo’s approach to design and performance.

Club history
The Alfa Romeo Club of South Africa was founded in Johannesburg in 1973. It was created after 63 car owners responded to an advertisement in The Star newspaper placed by motoring editor Harvey Thomas at the request of Alfa Romeo South Africa’s then managing director, Dr Vito Bianco.
The club currently has about 220 members. It holds social and technical events, track days, dynamometer tests, vehicle assessments for insurance and publishes a monthly newsletter. The organization is affiliated with the Alfa Romeo Owners Association of South Africa and is included in the global list of approved Alfa Romeo clubs.
The event will run on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Entry to the park will be free for visitors and Alfa Romeo owners. Club members will be able to enter a car in the competition free of charge, while non-members must pay a fee for their car’s participation in the competition.
