Andriy Rubel has been appointed head of the Kyiv Regional Police

Ivan Vyhovsky, Head of the National Police of Ukraine, introduced the new head of the Kyiv Regional Police. Andriy Rubel has been appointed to the position. 

This was announced on May 12 during an official presentation to the staff.

During the event, Ivan Vyhovsky thanked the previous head of the regional police, Anatoliy Shchadilo, for his work and service.

He emphasized that the Kyiv region remains one of the most challenging regions in terms of security challenges during wartime.

According to Vyhovsky, the main tasks of the regional police include:

  • ensuring the safety of citizens
  • responding promptly to crimes and emergencies
  • documenting war crimes committed by the Russian Federation
  • countering sabotage
  • maintaining public order

He emphasized that the police must work professionally, transparently, and effectively, as well as strengthen preventive efforts and cooperation with communities.

The newly appointed Kyiv Regional Police Chief Andriy Rubel expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and described his appointment as a great responsibility.

He stated that, together with his team, he would focus on:

  • ensuring the safety of the region’s residents
  • responding to wartime challenges
  • maintaining law and order in the region

Thank you for the trust placed in me to lead the Kyiv Region Police. This is a great responsibility for me,” Rubel noted.

Earlier, Hero of Ukraine Major General Viktor Nikoluk took over as head of the “East” Operational Command, replacing Brigadier General Dmytro Bratishko in that position.

Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksandr Fatsievych will temporarily serve as acting head of the Patrol Police Department.
