Emergency repair work has begun on the grounds of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio following Russian strikes on Kyiv on June 2 and 15. Specialists have started to address the damage.

“As a result of two missile strikes, significant damage was caused to buildings, utility networks, and cultural heritage sites located on the film studio’s grounds. A commission has been formed to conduct an official inspection of the damaged cultural heritage sites,” the Ministry of Culture stated in a press release.

Experts are assessing the extent of the damage and determining the priority measures needed to preserve the film studio’s buildings and property.

Eighteen buildings at the film studio have been damaged, including monuments of scientific and technical history of national and local significance.

In particular, the main film studio (1927–1928), the administrative and laboratory buildings, the “Shchors Building” (Film Studio Museum), staff buildings, combined filming workshops, the cafeteria, the power plant, the film archive, the dormitory, and other structures.

Roofs, window frames, walls, and interior spaces of the buildings were also damaged.

Part of the utility infrastructure was destroyed: the power supply, water supply, and sewer system. In addition, the pavilions’ drainage systems, utility buildings, and part of the grounds were damaged.

The film studio suffered its greatest losses due to a direct hit on the costume workshop, where one of Ukraine’s largest collections of stage and film costumes was stored.

“The initial emergency restoration work is aimed at protecting the premises from further destruction and creating conditions for the resumption of the film studio’s production activities,” the Ministry of Culture stated, according to Ukrinform.

On the night of July 1, Russian troops carried out a massive attack with strike drones on the Dnipropetrovsk region.

As a result of the massive attacks by Russian occupation forces on Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia district over the past day, two civilians were killed and another 36 residents were wounded.
