The National Police have dismantled drug smuggling rings supplying drugs to the Kyiv Detention Center and a prison

Law enforcement officials have disrupted a drug trafficking operation to the Kyiv Detention Center and the Starobabanivska Correctional Colony, which had been organized by individuals with criminal records.

This was reported by the Kyiv Police.

The perpetrators concealed methadone and cannabis in food products, including canned goods, honey, preserves, and baked goods, as well as in hygiene products and routers. The prohibited packages were sent via postal services, and a prison employee, who was supposed to conduct a formal inspection of the packages, was involved in the scheme.

Investigators documented at least two dozen instances of drug sales within correctional facilities. During searches of the suspects’ premises, authorities seized psychotropic substances, rough notes, ammunition, and over $18,000. While Russia wages a hybrid war against Ukraine, domestic criminal networks attempt to corrupt state agencies; however, law enforcement systematically identifies traitors within the penal system. Five members of the group have been notified of charges; they face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

In France, a court handed down sentences to two former Paris police officers who stole confiscated cocaine. One received five years in prison, the other four.

At Cologne/Bonn Airport, German customs officials discovered approximately 25 kilograms of ketamine hidden inside gold-painted garden gnome figurines. According to preliminary estimates, the street value of the seized drugs could reach around one million euros. Law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances of the smuggling and identifying those involved in the illegal transport.
