The storm left more than 25,000 households in the Kyiv region without power

Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds have caused widespread power outages in the Kyiv region. More than 25,000 households have been left without power due to the severe weather.

According to DTEK Kyiv Regional Power Grids, the storm damaged more than 30 power lines. The outages were caused by strong gusts of wind and trees and branches falling onto the power lines.

Utility workers are working around the clock to address the aftermath of the storm. At the same time, due to continued rain and squalls in the region, new localized damage is being reported.

Residents of the region are urged not to approach broken or sagging wires, not to touch metal structures near damaged power lines, and to avoid being outdoors during thunderstorms whenever possible.

Kyiv and the Kyiv region were hit by severe weather with heavy rain and hail. Due to the intense rainfall, roads in the capital were flooded, and in some areas, cars were partially submerged in water. Fallen trees have also been reported. Emergency services are working to address the aftermath of the storm.
