Igor Ilyin, director of the Medical Center at the Institute of Reproductive Genetics and a renowned obstetrician-gynecologist and reproductive specialist, has died in Kyiv after sustaining serious injuries in an assassination attempt.
The attack on the doctor took place on September 3 in the capital, when the assailant fired at least 23 shots at him with a firearm. The doctor remained in critical condition and in a coma for a long time, from which he emerged on September 11, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.
The UNN news agency reported this, citing a statement by Tamara Yuzko, director of the “Medical Center for Infertility Treatment.”
