In Kyiv, the Institute of Biochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine caught fire due to shelling by the Russian Federation
As a result of the massive shelling of Kyiv by the Russian Federation on the night of July 2, a fire broke out in the building of the O. V. Palladin Institute of Biochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Officials at the research institute noted that no one was injured as a result of this emergency.
Once the fire is extinguished, staff plan to begin cleaning and drying the premises. Representatives of the institute clarified that everything “that didn’t burn was flooded,” and that the fire will be fully extinguished by the afternoon. The institute also reported that the freezers, in which scientific materials are stored, continue to operate. The head of the institute is currently at the workplace and is coordinating further actions.

Search and rescue operations are continuing in Kyiv following a massive Russian attack. According to Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, 20 deaths have been confirmed so far.
