An underground workshop producing counterfeit alcohol was uncovered in Kyiv

Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, an illegal production facility was shut down as part of an investigation into the manufacture of counterfeit alcohol.

In Kyiv, an underground workshop was converting alcohol into alcoholic beverages that were passed off as products of well-known brands. The illegal production operation has already been shut down.

It was established that Kyiv residents had organized an underground workshop that handled the entire alcohol production cycle. The finished products, manufactured using their own equipment, were packaged in plastic containers and Tetra Pak-style bags. They were then bottled and packaged for sale under the guise of well-known alcohol brands.

During the investigation, over 45,000 liters of alcohol worth 4.7 million hryvnias, nearly 700 liters of finished alcoholic beverages, and packaging materials (Tetra Paks, containers, boxes bearing the labels of well-known alcohol brands)—8,700 items—were discovered and seized, liquid filling equipment, packaging equipment, generators, pumps, the company’s seal, shipping documents, and vehicles used to transport the illegally produced excise goods. All products and equipment were seized. The alcohol has been sent for analysis.

A pre-trial investigation into the production of counterfeit alcohol (Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is being conducted by detectives from the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv.
