Ticket validators will be installed on Kyiv minibuses once martial law ends
Ticket validators must be installed on Kyiv’s minibuses no later than nine months after martial law is lifted. Currently, private transit operators are working with city authorities to explore the possibility of introducing cashless payment options.
At present, minibuses are not equipped with cashless payment systems and are not connected to the city’s automated fare collection system. The Kyiv City State Administration also noted that carriers are exploring options for partnering with banks to launch such a system.
When will validators be installed on minibuses?
Currently, Kyiv’s minibuses are not equipped with validators for cashless payments and are not connected to the city’s automated fare collection system (AFCS).
At the same time, the Kyiv City State Administration stated that city authorities and private transit operators are working to eliminate the need for cash payments on minibuses.
“As of today, private carriers are taking steps to introduce cashless fare payments; in particular, they are exploring implementation methods and opportunities for cooperation with financial and banking institutions,” the Kyiv City State Administration stated.
Thus, specific methods for introducing cashless payment on minibuses are still being worked out. Validators are expected to be introduced after martial law is lifted—within nine months.

As a reminder, fares on most minibuses in Kyiv will increase starting August 1.
