Ukrainian singer Anastasia Prykhodko has once again found herself at the center of a scandal due to her comments on social media. This time, her statement about the Ukrainian national anthem sparked a wave of criticism.
The artist published her latest controversial post on Threads.
On Threads, the artist wrote that the loud sound of the anthem at 9 a.m. frightens her. According to Prykhodko, when she hears it in her sleep, she wakes up with a sense of unease, as if something bad had happened.
“I just can’t get used to the fact that they play the Ukrainian national anthem loudly at 9 a.m. Through my sleep, it sounds like ‘we’re doomed,’” the singer wrote.
This sparked a wave of outrage online. Some users accused the artist of provocation and trying to draw attention to herself.
“Only enemies or traitors are afraid of the Ukrainian anthem,” wrote one commenter.
Blogger Olena Mandziuk also reacted to the post. She recalled a situation at the 2026 European Junior Championships, where Ukrainian gymnasts Sofia Krainska and Varvara Chubarova covered their ears with headphones and closed their eyes during the playing of the Russian and Belarusian national anthems.
“What has happened if the symbol of one’s own state evokes not pride, not respect, and not gratitude, but fear?” Mandzyuk asked indignantly.
As a reminder, Prikhodko had previously faced criticism for controversial remarks regarding the “Kyiv Russian language.”
