Chaeyoung of TWICE will continue her solo career outside of JYP Entertainment

Chaeyoung, a member of the South Korean girl group TWICE, announced that after leaving JYP Entertainment, she will continue her solo music career on her own. At the same time, the singer assured her fans that she will remain an active member of the group, according to the Korea Herald.

Chaeyoung wrote about her decision in a handwritten letter posted on Instagram. The artist stated that she will continue to develop her musical journey through “Lil Fantasy”—the title of her debut solo LP, released in September 2025—as well as her personal creative and musical universe.

The singer thanked JYP Entertainment, where she spent 14 years, including her trainee period, as well as her fellow TWICE members. Chaeyoung emphasized that her departure from the agency will not affect the activities of the nine-member group. According to her, TWICE will always remain her foundation, and she aims to create music both as Chaeyoung of TWICE and as part of Lil Fantasy.

Her debut solo album, “Lil Fantasy vol. 1,” ranked 86th on Rolling Stone’s list of “The 100 Best Albums of 2025.” The album also ranked seventh on the year-end K-pop album lists published by Billboard and Forbes.

Chaeyoung’s announcement came a few days after another TWICE member, Jeongyeon, announced her departure from JYP Entertainment. Jeongyeon recently signed a contract with Varo Entertainment, where her older sister, actress Gong Shin-young, is also signed.
