Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” sets Billboard Hot 100 record — Rolling Stone

Ella Langley’s song “Choosin’ Texas” spent 23 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the longest-running leader in the chart’s history. The single was released in October 2025 and surpassed Mariah Carey’s previous record with “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

23 weeks at the top

As Rolling Stone reports, “Choosin’ Texas” also surpassed songs by Harry Styles and Morgan Wallen in time spent at the top of the Hot 100. Langley co-wrote the country song with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor.

Second place on the chart went to Stella Leftyand’s “Boston,” which also recently topped country radio airplay. Morgan Wallen’s song “Been By Now” ranked third. Thus, country artists occupied the top three positions in the ranking.

Nominations and tour

In February, “Choosin’ Texas” simultaneously topped the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. Alabama native Langley has nine nominations for the 60th CMA Awards, including in the Entertainer of the Year category. Her second album, “Dandelion,” also returned to No. 1 on the album charts.

“Dandelion” includes a cover of Kitty Wells’ 1952 song “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels,” the first solo song by a female performer to top the country charts. During the Dandelion tour, Langley invited Gabriella Rose, Kaitlin Butts, Avery Anna, Laci Kaye Booth and Madeline Edwards as opening acts. Drake also announced a possible remix of “Choosin’ Texas.”
